Dolomites Family Trip June 2018

SUMMER is a great time for a FAMILY TRIP in the Dolomites!  In June we took a fabulous Idaho/Washington family on our classic Dolomite hiking, canyoning and via ferrata trip.  We started in Arco with a fun warm up via ferrata called “Via Ferrata Colodri.”  Via Ferrata Colodri is an introductory via that gives everyone an idea of what in the world IS a via ferrata and answers the question of what it is exactly we will be doing in the Dolomites!  The via was chill enough that the high adrenalin part of the family headed out for an afternoon of “canyoning” (rappelling down waterfalls into turquoise pools) with our guide partners in Arco.  Canyoning is huge all over the world but fairly new in the USA.

Next came our trip though the mountains, specifically the Brenta segment of the Dolomites.  Each day is a combination of hiking and via ferratas to the next luxurious Italian “Refugio” (mountain lodge).   The rifugios in Italy are totally buffed out with gorgeous dining rooms with sweeping views and bunk bed rooms with thick comforters and wonderful pillows (yes, you will be bunking with your family).  Many of our afternoons were spent rock climbing (totally optional!) near the rifugios and I think many of the family were surprised to find themselves up high on a rock for the first time.  Motto for this trip… “never say never!”  Check out the photos below. We can’t thank this family enough for such a fun trip.  We heart you guys!  Grazie Mille!

Tilly wonders where is everyone going?
