NEPAL
Namaste! Nepal is the epitome of “Adventure Travel.” The combination of majestic Himalayan peaks, friendly people, & terraced green valleys makes Nepal one of the richest adventure travel experiences on the planet. Pete first visited Nepal in 1989 on a trekking, mountain climbing and kayaking trip. He fell in love with the beautiful mountains and friendly spirit of the people and soon found his way back, guiding whitewater rafting with Equator Expeditions and exploring the trails and peaks in his spare time. Kim has been exploring Nepal since the early ’90s and, with Pete, has guided more than 50 trips through this amazing country.
Many of our staff have been with us since the late 90s and have become family to us. Our lead trekking guide, Tek Bahadur Magar, has been working with us since 1998 and is amazing beyond words. He does it all, keeps track of us on the trail, teaches us Nepalese trekking songs, picks the absolute best places to camp, is the first to any summit, and is the first to help out when needed. In 1998 Tek brought us the ever-smiling Dendi Sherpa, our assistant camp manager. Dendi can be found doing it all: setting up camp, carrying packs, herding pack animals, and all the while keeping us laughing and smiling. Others in our team since the 90s include the tiny but powerful Janga Rai and his brother, Ramesh; our office manager Rajendra Dahal; and our cook Mingma Sherpa. Our Nepal team has worked together longer than any other trekking company out there and it is to them we credit such a huge percentage of returning guests to Nepal. Congratulations to those who have passed the “10-trips-in-Nepal-with-Mountian-Spirits” mark! Namaste!
