Our new, breathtaking Amalfi Coast hiking trip includes cultural stops in Pompei and Vesuvius and hiking and sailing the sapphire blue waters of the southern Mediterranean Sea. With it’s amazing food and endless options for fun, Italy is one of our best destinations for a family adventure.
The Brenta Dolomites, or Italian Alps, are bordered by the Swiss Alps to the west and the Austrian Alps to the north. They tower above the sapphire Lake Garda to the south and are renowned for their spectacular colors reflected during sunrise and sunset. The Dolomites offer some of the most beautiful mountain landscapes in the world, with vertical limestone walls towering up to 4000 feet, sparkling lakes and long, deep valleys. The web of trails traversing the range are dotted with country inns (rifugios in Italian) that offer delicious five course meals, local wines and beers and hot showers.
We hike through meadows of wildflowers, sip cappuccinos in historic mountain huts, pass under white vertical faces and settle into our next Rifugio. The more intrepid can connect the in by via ferrata routes while others enjoy well marked hiking trails.
Our Dolomite trips begin in beautiful riverside Verona, the set for three of Shakespeare’s plays and home to a still standing Arena built in AD 30. From Verona we travel to Arco, the epicenter of mountain adventure. Arco has world class hiking, rock climbing, mountain biking, via ferratas, canyoneering, wind surfing, and sailing. We end our journey wandering the canal city of Venice. Venice, founded in 5th century, is home to some of the world’s greatest artists and architecture. This new Mountain Spirits journey has become wildly popular for a reason, Italy has it all!
