AURORA CHASING! In search of the Northern Lights
2025 dates by request
2025 is now officially “solar maximum” which means chances of seeing the Northern Lights are higher than they have been in 11 years! Woohoo! Contact us for help with your bucket list Aurora-Chasing trip! Kim has been “chasing” for four years now and loves to share her knowledge. The Aurora is best seen under the “Aurora Oval” which means (in the US) Fairbanks, Alaska or under the Arctic Circle in Norway, Sweden, Finland, Iceland or Greenland.
The weeks surrounding Fall and Spring equinoxes are prime for Northern Lights viewing. 2025 is the peak of an 11 year solar storm cycle and will be a great time to view incredible auroras!
Kim has been traveling to Fairbanks, Alaska, each winter in search of the Northern Lights. Fairbanks lies under the “Aurora Oval” which means when the Northern Lights are out, you are in great position to see them. She likes to visit during the“new moon” periods in winter for the long, moonless nights which allow for better viewing possibilities. When the solar storms cooperate, the Aurora Borealis will dance into view with a mesmerizing show of rippling ribbons of light in neon green, red, and even purple. The intensity of their displays will leave you awe-struck! Fairbanks is a winter wonderland with great restaurants and lots of day time activities: dog sledding, snow shoeing, crossing country skiing and even hot springs. In spring 2024 she traveled to Norway to view under the Arctic Circle and it did NOT disappoint!
