Who We Are

Welcome to Mountain Spirits Adventure Travel, owned and operated by husband/wife team, Pete Patterson and Kim Jacobs since 1996. Our trips are expressly designed to capture the true “Mountain Spirit” of any trek, mountain climb or heli-ski adventure. Each adventure is hand crafted and guided by us. From trekking holidays in the Himalaya to ski vacations in Greenland, you are guaranteed a high quality, awe-inspiring adventure that will keep you coming back year after year.

Our Mission

Our mission is to inspire you through culturally and environmentally sensitive adventure travel. Many of our guests have been inspired to join us in giving back by building schools, sponsoring education and donating clothes.

Our Team

Our adventures abroad would not be possible without the unending dedication of our foreign partners. The success of adventure travel in remote places like Nepal and Patagonia are highly dependent on having reliable, experienced locals. From South America to the glaciers of Greenland we have been lucky to meet hard working, dedicated locals whom we work with year after year. Pete Patterson

Pete grew up skiing in Sun Valley, Idaho, and made the US Ski Team at the age of 16. His interest in travel sparked while competing around the world when he was on the US Ski Team (competing in the 1976 and 1980 Olympics and capturing a bronze in the 1978 World Championships). Pete’s love for mountains, rivers and people naturally led him into the guide world, working as a heli-ski guide and commercial river guide since the mid 80’s. A proficient climber, Pete has climbed and skied numerous peaks over 20,000 ft. in Nepal and South America (including the first telemark ski descent of the Polish glacier route on Aconcagua-South America’s highest peak at 22,835 ft). Pete’s boundless energy and sense of adventure, combined with his level of competence and skills acquired from a lifetime of guiding guarantee you a most exciting adventure anywhere on the planet!

Kim Jacobs

Kim grew up hiking and skiing in the North Cascade Mountains of Washington State. After obtaining a Business Degree from the University of Washington, she moved to Sun Valley, ID, where she took a corporate job with Smith Sport Optics. While skiing in Idaho she met Pete who encouraged her to leave the corporate life and follow her passion for the outdoors, working to become a licensed guide. After her first Nepal trekking adventure in 1993 Kim was inspired to start Mountain Spirits with Pete. Since then Kim has guided trips in Nepal, Bhutan, Bolivia, Patagonia, Greenland, Thailand and Italy. Although Pete and Kim guide many trips together, Kim also enjoys guiding women’s only trips. She has also become a professional photographer and enjoys sharing her love of photography while on trips. Kim’s infinite energy and love for adventure and far away places is infectious and inspiring!
