ICELAND: HIKING AROUND THE RING ROAD!

Get ready to see and experience everything that Iceland has to offer on this hiking road trip around the entire island! This tiny country (the size of Delaware) has 130 active volcanoes, 269 glaciers, 45 hot springs and 80,000 Icelandic Ponies. Oh, and don’t forget, over 800,000 sheep! We will travel the entire Ring Road hiking and sightseeing along the way. Each day is non stop action including hiking, sight-seeing, glacier walks, whale watching, hot springing and if we are lucky, the Northern Lights! Each night we end up in a cozy boutique hotel with various dinner options. You will not go home after this trip thinking you just didn’t get to see enough!
Iceland has year round opportunities for exploring. Summer is prime for hiking but is also the busiest, fall has less people and is still nice for hiking (with the bonus potential of seeing the Northern Lights) and winter is great for skiing and Northern Lights!
Mountain Spirits Ring Road Itinerary:
Day 1: Meeting Point ~ Keflavik Airport. Our journey begins with a soak in the Blue Lagoon before we head to the Golden Circle. Overnight Hveragerdi
Day 2: Golden Circle sights and hikes continue including Secret Lagoon/Fluoir. Overnight Hveragerdi
Day 3: South Coast waterfalls, black sand beaches & hiking. Optional: Ice Cave Tour. Overnight Vik
Day 4: Skaftafell Nature Reserve, glacier lagoons & Skaftafell Glacier Hike. Overnight Hofn
Day 5: Eastfjords, Geothermal Vok Baths. Overnight Egilsstadir
Day 6: Studlagil Canyon, Lake Myvatn. Overnight Lake Myvatn
Day 7: “Diamond Circle” ~ Dettifoss Waterfall, Jokulsargljufur & Husavik for Whale Watching Tour. GeoSea Geothermal Baths. Overnight Lake Myvatn
Day 8: NW Iceland, Akureyri & Godafass Waterfall. Overnight Siglufjordur
Day 9: Vatnsnes Peninsula ~ Basalt sea stacks, sunbathing seals and hiking. Overnight Laugarbakki
Day 10: The wonders of Snaefellsnes (aka “Iceland in Miniature”). Overnight Arnarstapi
Day 11: West Fjords, Glymur Waterfall, Sky Lagoon. Last night in Iceland! Hotel in Reykjavik.
Day 12: Depart from Iceland
