NORWAY — HIKING IN THE LOFOTEN ISLANDS

JULY 2024

NEW! The Lofoten Islands are a chain of islands in NW Norway near the Arctic Circle.  The mountains rise directly out of the turquoise blue waters of the North Atlantic Ocean. The Lofoten Islands have been continuously inhabited since 1120 and are dotted with colorful fishing villages.  The area is an outdoor lovers paradise with endless hiking trails,  sea kayaking, mountain biking, rock climbing, whale watching and more. This trip traverses the entire chain of the islands staying in a mix of “rorbuers” (traditional fishing cabins) and AirBnBs.  Daily activities are determined by the group’s desires.  Villages we will see along the way include (but are not limited to) Svolvær, Henningsvær, Leknes, Reine, Hamnøy, Flakstad and Moskenes.   Tromsø (Norway’s Arctic Circle City) and / or Bergen (“Capital of Norwegian Fjords”) can also be added before or after the Lofoten area.

When do we go?

Summer…July, August or September.
