Lets ski some Greenland POWDER!

Packages for skiing Greenland POWDER:

TULU

Skiing from the ship TULU is the ultimate way to ski Greenland! The TULU takes us deep into our ski terrain…the endless fjords and mountain ranges of SW Greenland. By accessing our skiing via the TULU we reduce shuttle time to runs leaving those precious flight hours for more skiing. Apres skiing on the TULU includes wildlife watching (arctic fox, seabirds and whales when they are migrating). We sleep amongst the ice and mountains and below the twinkling stars and sometimes even the Northern Lights.

The TULU has spent over 20 years navigating Greenlandic waters with skiers, geologists and whale watchers aboard. The TULU has even visited the Caribbean! This sea faring ship is equipped with state-of-the-art GPS navigation, radar, sonar and safety systems functional in all of the fjords that we will ski. The TULU has 5 double occupancy rooms below deck which accommodate up to 10 skiers. The main deck has a fully equipped kitchen, dining room, chillax areas along with showers and bathrooms. Anders and Ellen Pedersen, owners of the TULU since 1998, add so much to our ski experience. Anders keeps us safely on course and Ellen’s local cuisine and fresh bread give us the energy to ski the long hours of the arctic day. The TULU is reliable, safe, comfortable and most of all FUN!

MORE HELI SKI Destinations:

Antartica

Antarctica is one of the last wild places on our planet. Antarctica is a place for an adventure of a lifetime and skiing is a tremendous bonus. Massive icebergs and endless sea and animal life provide the uniqueness that draws adventurers to Antarctica. The continent holds 70% of the world’s water supply and 90% of the freshwater ice. We run private ski touring trips from live-aboard ships sailed by captains who have years of experience navigating the ice. Because of the remoteness of the area, we have one guide with three skiers. This trip can be run as a family trip with the opportunity for non-skiers to explore the ice and sea life while others are skiing. Contact Pete directly for more information on your holiday to Antarctica!

Alaska

Every powder skier dreams of riding the great white north of Alaska. With 1.2 million acres of ski terrain and an annual snowfall of 600 inches per year, Alaska is known for powder! Many skiers think they have to be an extreme skier to enjoy Alaska but this is not true. The Tordrillo Mountains of AK offer all levels of ski terrain. On this trip you will stay at the Tordrillo Mountain Lodge which is located deep in the vast wilderness of Alaska. Basing out of this lodge gives skiers the chance to explore the stunning landscape of Alaska, the last great frontier!

Chile

From June through September Pete journeys south with his guests to ski the Chilean Andes. The Andes are the longest continental mountain range in the world extending through seven countries. As our planet is getting warmer the snow line is getting higher and we are blessed that much of this range lies above 4000 meters. It is here in the high Andes we ski and ride the infamous Chile Powder, returning each day to sleep below the snow line in the quaint Lodge Andino. Lodge Andino is located in the Maipo Valley on upwards of 100,000 acres of ranch land. Après ski activities include hiking or running, riding horses on the ranch, enjoying the hot tub and/or a massage all accompanied by a traditional pisco sour. You will be treated to an excellent dinner before returning to the cozy rooms with a wood-burning fireplace. After our morning breakfast, we step out in front of the lodge where the heli flies us to one of the many valleys to enjoy the long descents and spectacular scenery.

Iceland

This heli-ski operation is located on the Troll Peninsula in Northern Iceland. Arctic Heli Skiing founder Jokull Bergmann grew up skiing and climbing in Iceland. After years of guiding in Canada and Europe, Jokull returned to his roots and created one of the most unique operations in the world. Klaengsholl Lodge, your home while in Iceland, is an ancient sheep farm that was founded by Vikings in 850 AD. With extensive work Jokull and his team have preserved the Viking culture in this beautiful lodge that rivals any ski lodge in the world. The ski terrain, which is minutes from the lodge, leads you from the mountain tops to the sea. Northern lights, midnight sun, lava fields and hot springs are just a few of the highlights of Iceland. Ski touring opportunities abound for those who like to earn their turns in this spectacular environment.

One word says it all: Himalaya. There is no place on the planet that has the feel of the Himalaya. For two decades we have been skiing, mountaineering and trekking in this massive mountain range. Tucked away in northern India is the colorful holiday town of Manali. Manali is surrounded by terrific ski mountains that are surrounded by even higher mountains that block the wind and protect the snow. HHA works with the world renowned aviation company, Air Zermatt, which boast some of the best high altitude heli-ski pilots in the world. With the Bering Sea on one side and the Pacific Ocean on the other frequent storms pound the Kamchatka Peninsula with light, cold snow. Hundreds of volcanoes make this land of fire and ice a paradise for ski-touring and heli-riding. The snow on the volcanoes can last until July for summer ski touring trips. This trip is designed for the ultimate adventure skier and private trips can be arranged for any group size.

Ruby Mountain

For almost four decades Ruby Mountains Heli-Experience has been guiding skiers and riders into this obscure, off the beaten path mountain range. Owned and operated by Joe Royer and family, the Royers have put their heart and soul into this operation and it shows in all aspects of the business. The Ruby Mountains of Nevada offer terrain for all ability levels and the high elevations keeps the snow cold and dry. If the snow is falling and the helicopter is not flying, the snow cat is rolling so that the guests may keep skiing and riding. The lodge is a luxurious country style lodge located on 125 acres of wooded meadowland with fantastic Ruby views and in room massages offered. Francy Royer and her staff cook delicious gourmet meals that keep the guests raving.

Sun Valley

Since 1966 SVHS has been operating heli-sking in the Idaho backcountry. With 750,000 acres of terrain throughout three mountain ranges there are many terrific ski options. Sun Valley offers day heli-ski trips which makes this a great place to try out heli-skiing for the first time. With the helicopter it is possible to access the deeper snowpack found in the Idaho backcountry (which can be three times as much as the high desert snowpack close to town!). It is times like this that you want to be in a helicopter in your own private Idaho! On weather days you can ride the legendary ski resort of Sun Valley which boasts the first ever ski lift in the USA (1936). Chances are you won’t wait in many lift lines in Sun Valley and with more than 3000’ of consistent vertical. The ski resort provides a great tune up for your heli-ski day. When spring rolls around the corn snow skiing in Idaho is world class. The higher elevation terrain opens up and the bigger mountains offer up to 4000 ft. long, steep corn runs. The aviation in Sun Valley is as good as it gets with Reeder Flying Service operating and maintaining the helicopter. Ace pilot Chris Templeton flies the bird and is one of the best mountain pilots you will ever fly with.
